Federico started his career as a Planning and Salary Analyst in Xerox de Venezuela. Lately he worked as a Planning Specialist in the same organisation, leading various projects, among them, the creation of a position assessment system, based in econometric models.
Thanks to his formation in economic policy and statistics, he was hired by IBM of Venezuela as Staff Financial Analyst, having among his roles, to advice the organisation regarding economic and institutional relations in order to create, among others, laws such as the Law on Intellectual Property. After a year in IBM he was appointed as Assistant Executive to the President and General Manager of IBM Andina, a transitional position to his subsequent promotion to the Business Processes Audit Management Office, shortly before starting his career as an independent consultant.
In 1992 he founded ESC Corporation, the firm with which he created what is probably the first relational on line salary market survey in the world when Internet did not exist, using only dial-up for communication. Due to speed, quality and better price/value relationship of surveys, in only 6 years he got over 75% of Venezuelan surveys market, ahead of multinational and domestic firms. This achievement additionally earned him alliances with corporations at an international level, with whom he performed projects in different parts of the world, becoming a member of ASINTA global committee, representing Latin America. In 1999 he received offers of multinational companies for the purchase of ESC Corporation, and in year 2000 he decided to sell it to William M. Mercer (currently Mercer de Venezuela), becoming its first General Manager and a leader in Performance & Rewards practice.
In 2003 I constituted Thomas More Management Consulting (TMC), a firm with which we started creating management projects for companies as Caterpillar in Venezuela (Venequip), in which we contributed as Sales, Post-sales and Logistics Director to the design and implementation of various changes. In a three-year period, these changes led to an increase of corporation’s annual sales, from 70 million USD to more than 500 million USD.
Additionally, logistics and inventory went from the worst to the best of Latin America. Later, and in other organisations, we led similar projects in multiple areas.
In my current position, we have converted TMC in the country’s number one firm in Sales Compensation and Talent Retention and in one of the most renowned in Latin America, where we have performed surveys in almost every country. The best and/or biggest local and international companies prepare their sales compensation plans directly under our guidance. Likewise, we have consistently developed this area within the international market, preparing sales compensation plans throughout Latin America. Our success rate in Talent Retention area is over 90% abroad and more than 85% in Venezuela, an exceptional case in this area. The Total Reward measurement methodologies hwe uses have been used by the most important corporations worldwide and some of our clients have won prestigious international acknowledgements.
